It was the beginning of the school year and I asked God to use me for real on soul winning. I wanted God to use me beyond of what He had done before. So we came to this place where I met a guy in my age that totally rejected me in the beginning. But I kept on talking to him, because I really felt like God wanted to touch him. He started to open up himself to me and explain how everything he saw in life was just darkness. His family, his neighborhood, his life everything was a mess and he couldn’t possibly see any way out of it.

But I kept on telling him about my Jesus, who I KNOW can bring him out of it, and help him with everything he’s going through. He still didn’t want to pray the salvation prayer with me, but I noticed how he actually started to listen to what I said. He started to melt up a little, and my friend joined us and we kept on talking for a little bit. We were just about to leave so we invited him to come with us, because we were going to Ignite (the youth meeting). Surprisingly, he wanted to join, so we took him with us to the meeting.

And it was so awesome! Ignite had just started and the first worship song they were playing had lyrics about EXACTLY what he had been talking about saying “you are my light in the darkness, come be my strength” and so on, and I just thought it was perfect. God REALLY touched him in that meeting it was powerful! He prayed and cried and also came back for the Sunday service, looking like a totally new person SO happy! It was a wonderful sight and I can’t thank God enough for using me so this could happen!

Well for me something I think is really miraculous. Before this school year I had never gone soul winning before. I was definitely challenging for me. I still remember when I talked to my first person. I could hardly get the script to come out of my mouth without stuttering, but to my surprise the lady closed her eyes and began to say the prayer with me.

It was probably one of the best days of my whole life. I finally understood what Pastor Rodney was talking about concerning soul winning. That our main purpose should be about souls and telling people about Jesus. To see the looks on people’s faces when you tell them about Jesus, and the change in their face when they accept him as their Lord and savior. Theirs is truly nothing quite like it the whole world. It really excites you to see that God is really using you to bring the world to Jesus. Daniel Mcgehee is truly a firecracker for Jesus. He really eats, breathes and is the main example of what it says in the bible about “going out unto the entire world and preaching the Good News to every creature.” He really sparks that fire in people to understand how important it is.

People are getting healed on the streets and set free. I have personally have seen someone get the baptism of the Holy Spirit right there on the street while people were passing by staring. If we do not go to them who will tell them? For this is the question to everyone who reads this. The Good News of Jesus Christ must be told to them. Or else who will help save them from a lost eternity. Will You?

Before I came to the River soul winning was something that I felt was not possible for me to do. My idea of speaking to people about Jesus was going around my neighborhood sticking tracks in people’s doors. Sometimes the opportunity would even present itself for me to witness but I just thought people didn’t want to hear about God and how He loves them. When I did build up the courage however to talk to someone it was only to invite them out to the next big church event. Come to think of it that’s the only reason we went out to the community. To advertise.

When I first heard the term “soul-winning” I was nervous to say the least. But after learning about The Great Commission and what God expects from us as believers and followers of Him, and listening to the testimonies of people who had been soul-winning it sounded more and more like something I would want to do. But I was still so nervous. What do I say? Then the soul winning script was introduced to me. Wow. What a wonderful piece of literature that is. The first time I went out to the streets it was so eye opening, as I read the script to these strangers something was happening in them.

People that seemed so unapproachable began to open up and listen. I realized that people need to hear about God, and they want to. They’re looking for something. Needless to say soul winning has impacted me in such a life altering way. I finally feel like my Christianity has a purpose. I have an assignment from my Father, my King, my Commander in Chief, and my Lord. And as I’m soul-winning I find myself being refreshed. God gives me the strength and the boldness to continually push for more souls. There is nothing like seeing the love of God in the eyes of the people I pray with. Where once there was darkness the light of God now shines in their life. I have realized it’s all about people.

I have been attending the River School of Worship this past year. Upon coming here for school there have been a number of changes I have noticed in life. Amongst those changes, the greatest on one I would have to say would be soul winning. When I first came to the school, I learned of soul winning that was done here and how it was a requirement for students. Before attending school I didn’t realize the importance of soul winning.

At the beginning of the year I viewed soul winning as program, something I had to do once a week to make sure I would make my grades. But as the weeks went on this program became more of a passion. Before I knew it, I was signing up for extra days beyond my requirement. I think I realized the importance of it when started to notice people would break down during whatever we were doing. One of my most memorable moments was on a late afternoon, I was knocking doors, I came across a woman who was having a bad day and told me she wanted nothing to do with. I told her to have a good day and I carried on.

As I walked, before I could get to the stairs, I felt the Holy Spirit tug on my heart and tell me I needed to get back up there. I turned around and made my way back to that door. I knocked again, this time she answered and said “thank God you came back”. She let me know she was having a bad day and that she wasn’t feeling well. I shared with her what the bible said and led her and her two children in the prayer of salvation, after that I prayed for illness and she was healed. She began to feel better and thanked me for coming back; I told her she should thank Jesus. As I spoke with her some more I offered to lead her in prayer to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She agreed and I began to lead her and children and they were baptized. When we done as I was leaving she thanked me again for coming back.

This is one of my memorable moments because it was a family who needed to know Jesus and because I willing to listen and follow the Holy Ghost their lives will forever be changed, natural and eternal. How many more people out in the world need to know Jesus? This why soul winning has impacted my life and why it is such an important aspect of Christian’s life.

Soul winning has changed my life. I came from a Baptist Church that had a very small evangelism ministry that people stayed away from joining and being a part of. I did, mostly, because I was afraid and I felt that I didn’t know how or that I needed certain training for it that I didn’t have time for. I felt disqualified because I wasn’t a minister. I first heard of soul winning from my sister who went out once after being trained with the Gonyon’s in Washington, DC. I came to the next soul winning session because I was so excited after seeing the script. I knew that this was something my spirit man longed to do ever since I got saved. And I never knew how to tell others about Jesus.

For 4 years, after truly accepting Jesus into my heart, I had kept his goodness and grace to myself. My first day out, God allowed me to draw 32 persons to salvation. Once the DC Great Awakening started, I was jumping on buses, and gathering crowds, winning over 300 souls to the Lord in one week. I witnessed multiple healings on the streets, baptisms of the Holy Spirit, persons being delivered and set free and restored back to their Creator. Since Bible School, I have led over 500 additional souls to the Lord. God has placed persons in my path that hated life itself, that were near death and never heard that God loved them, and that were on their way to commit suicide.

The most important thing that God is doing with me is that He is changing my heart to give me a compassion for the people. He has given me a passion for souls. I no longer judge people, as religion trains you to do, but I see them as God sees them. As I laid my hands on prostitutes and prayed earnestly over drug dealers, loved the elderly and comforted widows, the reality of the Bible has come alive right on the streets of Tampa, FL. Soul winning is my purpose, it is my passion, my motivation, the driving force that fulfills the will of God for my life.

As I stay pure and give Him an empty vessel, staying connected to His presence and in fellowship with Him, I can pour out the water that He has filled me with. And I can transfer the anointing and the fire of God to other persons and in an instant change the course of their eternal destiny, from the pit of hell into everlasting life.

We were soul winning in a neighborhood where many people accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We came upon a home where a lady who appeared to be in her forties said she had attended church for many years. As we were talking she decided to rededicate her life to Christ and she received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues! The great thing was that she had been praying to speak in tongues for a while, but had difficulty receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit in the past. When she prayed she immediately received the Holy Spirit in that same moment. God had answered her prayer.

There were several people in the Wal-Mart parking lot because their vehicles needed to be jumpstarted. I prayed the prayer of salvation with two women and one young boy who appeared to be about 8 years old. The boy received the Joy of the Lord and was filled with laughter as he said the prayer of salvation. The presence of the Holy Spirit was felt by all, especially the young boy. The mother of the boy is now excited about going to church in the near future as well.

I felt joy when I saw that the young people were excited about meeting Jesus Christ for themselves and making Him their Lord and Savior, not just because they are going to heaven, but because I know their lives will never be the same again. Soul winning is the most joyful experience because it is not just a good deed, but a God deed. I find peace in knowing that I am helping people to have assurance that they are going to heaven and showing them ultimate love of God, which is Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection for our sins.

Summer Camp Meeting

Posted by: Rodney Howard Browne | Comments (0)

I grew up in a religious traditional denominational church. I grew up doing all the things that I thought I was supposed to do. I worked with the youth. I sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible school. I did all the church activities. I knew the Bible stories, but I didn’t have the Holy Spirit. I didn’t know anything about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I also had a large interest in missions. I went on my first medical mission trip in 1996 and by 1998 I knew that I was called to be a missionary. I applied to missions boards and tried to go abroad in the traditional church, but God had other things in mind. In 2001, I started to get hungry for the things of God and received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in Jan. 2002.

I continued in the religious church for 3-1/2 more years. I started attending praise and worship at home group in January 2004. This was a river group with roots at your church. By July, I began attending on Sunday mornings as well, but continued in my religious church. I thought I could get filled in the river and be used over there. God, however, gave me an ultimatum in April 2005 when Richard Moore came to my church. He prayed for me and the Lord told that I had to leave the religious church before July. You see I was planning to come to the Summer Camp meeting and the Lord wanted to set me free. I was obedient to leave the religious church and God opened the door in June 2005 for me to go to Africa in Nov. 2005. In July however, I came to the Camp Meeting and the Lord touched me in such a big way. He set me free of religion and gave me joy like I had never experienced in my life. The Lord has continued to touch me and to set me free. I went to Ghana and Togo in November 2005 with Wes and Donna Geiger who were touched in your meetings and have now traveled with them to 4 different African nations over the last 1 1/2 years and am committed to serving in their ministry. I am answering the call that was on my life to go to the nations.

I continue to press into the anointing of God every chance I get. I have watched the camp meeting on God-TV the past two nights and both nights I have ended up shaking on my floor in the presence of God. God-TV is such a blessing to be able to bring the anointing across to the people. I don’t know how I lived without the Holy Spirit. I am so thankful for your ministry. It was also during that July 2005 Camp Meeting that the Lord set me free in my giving. I grew up in poverty and had a poverty mentality. During the 2nd meeting that I was at Pastor Debbie Rich shared on the Alabaster Box and the Lord challenged me to empty my check-book and give to your ministry. I struggled with it, but I did it. The Lord was teaching me to trust Him and to give by revelation. I gave and then continued to give that week on my credit card, which I had never done before. The Lord within one week gave me back what I had given in that initial offering 5 times in a bonus from my work. It was amazing. God told me that if I gave that my bills would be paid and I have held Him to that. Praise God! I am thankful for your obedience to serve the Lord. I truly have been witness of the fruit of your ministry — through those who have traveled to our church — Richard Moore, Joe and Becky Cruse, Jimmy and Becky Pearce. Thank you. Praise God!

Rodney Howard Browne shows us ayers rock

As we are brooding about nourishment, we must remember that while certain foodstuffs could be good for us and mandatory for our health, some are neither. Talking of that, it is an engaging study to test out what was eaten by plenty of the people that lived back in biblical days. Trust me ; you want to think carefully before making the choice to blindly follow the diet of any one person who lived way back then. Immediately before the Exodus, the Hebrews were instructed to prepare and eat roasted lamb, bread without yeast, and sour herbs ( Exodus 12:8-9 ). While on their way to the Guaranteed Land, the Hebrews longed for the fish, fresh vegetables, and melons they’d left in the dust in Egypt, while their outback diet consisted essentially of manna, apart from one complete month when they’d nothing but quail ( Numbers 11:5-9, 18-20, 31-34 ). Samson ate honey out of the body of a young lion he had earlier killed ( Judges 14:8-9 ).

Abigail catered a huge meal of mutton, roasted grain, raisins, bread, and wine to David and his men in the field ( one Samuel 25:18, twenty-seven, 35 ). The soothsayer Elijah drank from a brook and ate bread and beef, brought to him each morning and evening by ravens ( 1 Kings 17:5-6 ). Young Daniel turned down the King of Babylon’s choice food and wine, preferring a diet composed of only veg and water ( Daniel 1:8-12 ).

John the Baptizer limited his diet to locusts and honey ( Matthew 3:4 ).

Jesus and His followers ate fish cooked over an open fire ( John 21:9 ). Peter was instructed to eat “all categories of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air” ( Acts 10:12-13 ). The list is unfinished, but you get the picture. Manifestly , there’s no single dish or preferred food that folks ate in the days of the Bible.

And, honestly, some of the things they actually did eat would make us gag if we attempted to gag them down.

If you doubt that, imagine gnawing on an appetiser of locust and wild honey, followed by a sandwich made from some slabs of some crawling creature placed between a pair bits of manna ( which, incidentally, was like coriander seed and, when you baked it, it tasted like oil, according to Numbers 11:7-8 ). And what God provided for one was not always intended for another.

As I pointed out at the start, each individual is an individual person. That implies every one of us must discover which foods are best for us, which foods our bodies can endure, and which foods we want to stay absolutely away from. All of that may be meticulously determined as a consequence of tests and analyses, if you select. If you hope to get the best nutritive worth from what you eat, it is important that you take the time and go to the difficulty to discover which foods are best for you.

When you make that doggedness, ask Our Lord God for the willpower to say no way to those foods you haven’t any business eating. And while you are at it, do not forget to give Him thanks for the ones that help to keep you healthy, cheerful, energetic, and ardent about life.

In the early l960s when a Christian had a depression that ended in Job’s sort of thinking and candid admission, you never announced so in public. The 1st book I read on this subject, covering emotional chaos and psychological sickness among Christians, was considered heresy by the majority of my evangelical pals. The pervasive opinion then was simple : Christians failed to have breakdowns.

Additionally , you definitely didn’t say “depressed.

Shame on shame that you did not trust the Lord thru your struggle and find Him trustworthy to help “get over” your depression.

I remember being told by a seminary prof, who talked to us about assisting families with funerals, that if you probably did funerals for people that had committed suicide and the deceased was a Christian, we were never to say that fact. Candidly , it did not sound right then, and it does not sound right today. And I did not know enough to know that Job three was in the book back then. Had I known, I might have announced, “Hey, what about Job?”. I need to write to you who are reading these lines who might be in the pit, trying to find your way back. It’s possible that things have got so dark you need a competent Christian psychologist ( or psychiatrist ) to help find your way. The most intellectual thing you can do is find one and go. Ensure that the advisor truly does know the Lord Jesus and is really competent, able to supply the direction you want so you can work your way thru your maze of distress.

And, I might add, “God bless you for each hour you spend finding your way out of the hole that you’ve been in.

Part of the solution is to chase the advantages of solitude and silence found in periods of obscurity. For the 1st time in 7 years, I took 6 weeks off one summer. I targeted on slowing down and refilling my soul with the deep things of the Lord. I prayed, I sang, I studied, I walked, I fished, I stayed quiet, and I sat pondering and reevaluating my life. You may not have that much time available. You’ll have only a few days, or maybe 2 weeks.

If you are not careful, you can quickly fill those days with things to do, places to go, and folk to see. Resist that enticement to crowd out the Lord. What an ideal chance to carve out time to be alone, just you, the family, and the Lord. I do not want you to miss any of these words. Rather than speeding up, let’s discover ways to slow down and rethink. Taking time to discover what truly matters is crucial if we are going to lift the curse of superficiality that shadows our lives. Don’t wait for the doctor to tell you that you have 6 months to live. Long before anything that sad becomes a fact, you should be growing roots deep into the soil of those things that really matter. No “Six Fast Steps to Success” or other self-help scrolls clumped under his arms.

He came back to what he had experienced on the path to Damascus. He considered each new dawn a present from the Lord, the ideal chance to redo his concerns and rethink his motives.

But time expended in solitude prepares us for the unavoidable challenges that come at us from the chipped age in which we live.
